I don’t have time to type much now, but we had our follow up consultation with the developmental psychologists. They’ve diagnosed Jett as high-functioning autistic.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, but I know I’m still processing it. I’ll come back to type more when I have time.

So glad you have a diagnosis. I’m sure that is a relief. If you have time and want to read a book about a mother’s journey through getting her daughter diagnosed with autism and her therapy process, “Let Me Hear Your Voice” by Catherine Maurice is really good.

Love exists beyond diagnoses, and Jett is pure love.

hey meredith, i just read your whole page and although i don’t really have any advice or good book suggestions i just wanted to tell you that i’m praying for you and not to worry or feel overwhelmed because God will never give you anything above what you are able to handle and jett is loved by everyone who meets him, especially his parents, which is why he will always be full of joy and be a joy to others š

Meredith, read your post today and it brought me to tears. Parenting is difficult enough when a child is within the range of what is considered “normal.” Has Jett been specifically diagnosed with Asperger’s or just considered hf autism? I have had several students in recent years with AS. As a young mother, you are bearing a heavy load, but you are doing all the right things. You are communicating, reading, researching, and getting Jett the support he needs to grow and progress as much as he possibly can. Thankfully, Greenville County has a lot of support services. Like I told one of my AS moms about her son, God has given your son ALL he needs to do what the Lord has planned for him to accomplish while on this earth. He’s a precious gift from God and he’s blessed to have you as his mother š Thinking of you and praying for you.

Thank you for all the comments and support. I’ll try to answer all of them.
He has been diagnosed with high-functioning autism. They said that with Aspergers, they don’t usually see the significant speech delays that Jett has, which puts him in the HF autism range.
Thank you for the books suggestion, Melanie. Becca, next time I see you, I’ll have to ask you about borrowing your copy. š
Thank you, everyone, for all the prayers and kind words. They mean the world to me. (((hug)))
